Timely Tips!

  • When you mulch, only apply enough mulch to maintain a 2 inch layer in your beds. Check your existing mulch in several areas and apply enough new mulch to make the total depth 2”. Mulch deeper than 2” can cause surface rooting and mold, both of which are detrimental to ornamental plantings.
  • When you mulch pay attention to where you want to plant annual flowers. Ideally, add pine bark soil conditioner to those areas as mulch. You can plant right through the pine bark soil conditioner (finely ground pine bark) when installing your flowers. This will help condition the soil and act as a mulch to conserve soil.
  • Frost free date in central Ohio is May 1st. You can plant before that, but you risk losing all of your flowers. It is best to wait until after the 1st of May. It is important for the soil temperature to be 65 degrees or warmer. Cool soil will actually stunt some varieties of flowers and vegetables even if there is no frost.

"I want to take this opportunity to thank you and your company for servicing our home lawn and landscape needs. As you know, my wife and I generally embark upon a landscape upgrade program each summer. Once again, your organization has admirably responded!"
